Afua..
Kim, here is
Camtasia_Accesibility_Tips link where you'll find re-recordings of your Flash output subsequently reproduced as WMV and as QuickTime. Matthew
Thanks guys for checking this out ... it took a lot of work, but now that I've got the hang of it, other projects in Camtasia will be a piece of cake!
Afua: You are right ... I meant to include a note about checking out how we made the project accessible and I completely forgot about it ... I will add it in.
Matthew: I realized that we need to have some sort of a transcript in HTML as a work around in case the flash controls are a big problem. Afua is working on the descriptions for the animation, which will be embedded in the script and turned into an HTML page. That may be the only way we can address that issue. Oh -- and Afua, I'll post the revised script to this wiki page once I make the edits to the end of the project.
Also, based on your other comment Matthew -- I was a bit concerned about the audio since some of the audio tracks have been washed through the audio enhancements a few times due to some of the additional edits I made yesterday. Afua -- did you have any problems with the audio being extraordinarily loud? Would anyone else be willing to give the first couple of minutes a quick view to check out the audio issue? Thanks! ktm
This is really superb! I think this will get everyone excited about Camtasia.
I can't figure out how to operate any of the controls of the Flash player with keystrokes instead of the mouse.
I had JAWS turned on while I was watching your video (this is on a Windows PC) and it read fragments of the captions, usually only the last of three lines being displayed.
Also noted that volume on both my computers is eardrum rupturingly loud. Not sure how or if any adjustment is needed to audio or to my computers. --Matthew
Looks great Kim. I think at the end we will need to say they can view how the whole project was made accessible. I am going to try and work on the descriptions today. - Afua
Folks: I have uploaded a new version of the camtasia overview. Before I edit it some more and add in the narration, please view the presentation and let me know if it still looks really fuzzy like it did this morning in Commerce. It looks fine on my laptop, but who knows ... I don't want to make edits and add the narration if there is some issue with the production of the presentation. Thx ... ktm

Matthew ... I loved your narration. If I understand correctly, this workaround may be feasible, but I think it would be helpful if you reviewed it with us tomorrow. ktm
I'm not sure where to put this, so here it is. Notes in PowerPoint presentation (from the narrator's script) become captioning when PowerPoint is recorded using Camtasia. Output in SWF (Flash). Played the SWF and recorded again with Camtasia. Output new recording as AVI which retains all the captioning--you just have to use a non-standard size video to fit in the captioning. Should be able to do same to make a quicktime movie, which can be converted to an mp3 or mp4 with a cheap piece of shareware. Think this is a feasible workaround? Matthew

Hey Kim, I have just taken a look at the Camtasia PPT and I like it. One question I have though is about the Quick Tips section. On slide 13, the first 2 questions i.e. "What processes do you need to capture?" and "What steps need to be included?". It was not too clear as to how it is a Quick Tip maybe you could explain it futher tomorrow. Aside that, so far so GOOD! - Afua.
Yeah ... actually I was struggling with that Quick Tip ... before I record projects, I think about what processes I will demonstrate. So, I break those processes down into steps, which creates my outline. For instance, I am currently working on a Captivate for work that will show instructors how to copy course material from one Blackboard course site to another for the new semester. There are a few processes involved and several steps for each process ... so that is basically what I am trying to say! Can you think of a better way to say it? ktm

Each bullet point will have hyperlinks to additional information
- For example, when reviewing Captivate basic features, provide hyperlinks to a demo of that feature
Make each overview accessible
When highlighting Accessibility Design Principles, hyperlink to a demo of how we made that particular demo (Camtasia, Captivate, Presenter) accessible
At end of presentation, create hyperlink to demo, "How did we do that?" that shows how the presentation was created.
